Sensational pop, rock, and soul musician Michael McDonald is bringing his signature sounds to the Florida Theater!
Michael McDonald was born in St. Louis (Missouri) in 1952 and is a singer-songwriter, composer, musician, and record producer. He began his musical journey in high school by playing in local bands including Mike and the Majestics, Jerry Jay and the Sheratons, the Reebtoors, and The Guild. In 1970 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and had a breakthrough in 1974 when he joined Steely Dan’s touring group as a lead and backing vocalist. He joined The Doobie Brothers in 1976 and remained a key member of the group until 1982 after which he started to focus on his solo career. His debut studio album (If That's What It Takes) was a success with hit singles I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near), a duet with his sisters Kathy and Maureen, and I Gotta Try, a song co-written with Kenny Loggins. The album hit #6 on the US Billboard 200 chart and was certified Gold.
