The Irish Rovers, Ireland's sensational folk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Florida Theater!
The Irish Rovers were formed in Toronto (Canada) in 1963 by Northern Irish native George Millar (guitar, vocals, and banjo) and Jimmy Ferguson (vocals). They recruited George's cousin Joe (vocals and accordion) and his brother Will (guitar, banjo, and vocals) to complete the line up and the band eventually moved to the US. The band's been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of George (vocals, guitar, and bouzouki), Wilcil McDowell (accordion), Sean O'Driscoll (mandolin, tenor banjo, bouzouki, guitar, and vocals), Ian Millar (vocals, bass guitar, and guitar), Fred Graham (drums, bodhran, bones, and vocals), Geoffrey Kelly (tin whistle, flute, uilleann pipes, and vocals), Morris Crum (keyboards and vocals), and Gerry O'Connor (fiddle). Their musical style is best described as a blend of Irish folk (a genre encompassing both traditional Irish folk and contemporary Irish folk, which blends the traditional with contemporary rock and folk influences) and Celtic (a genre – consisting of both orally transmitted and recorded music - encompassing the many styles that evolved out of the folk music traditions of the Celtic people of Western Europe). They've had a stellar career with 44 studio albums and 25 singles.
